Senior Real Estate Accountant( m/f)

The job :

  • The role of the European Real Estate Accountant will cover all aspects of real estate accounting and reporting predominantly for the French, Belgian and German assets held within the property funds.
  • Responsibilities will range from the review of service charge reconciliations, reconciliation of tenancy schedules, management of payment processes, to assisting with acquisitions and disposals.
  • The real estate accountant will provide transactional support to portfolio managers and will supervise the activities of third party service providers in France, Belgium and Germany who assist with financial and tax reporting.
  • The role will also offer the successful candidate the opportunity to contribute to the design of new financial reporting
  • systems and processes and also contribute towards enhancements being made to the existing operating model.
  • This position will report directly to the Senior Manager in the Real Estate Operations team.



The Key Responsibilities

  • Support the operational processes to acquire, manage and dispose of real estate assets located predominantly in France, Belgium and Germany
  • Provide an efficient accounting and administration service in relation to real estate assets
  • Manage vendor engagement, budgeting and settlement processes
  • Provide responsive service and support the portfolio management team and other stakeholders
  • Ensure integrity of property information such as valuation, income and expense within the financial reporting systems
  • Help to manage workflow tasks within the Company such as new property setup, lease management and vacancies
  • Ensure compliance with procedures and controls and internal risk policies
  • Manage internal and external loans balances and support relationships with finance providers
  • Preparation of tax and regulatory reports in relation to French, Belgian and German Real Estate
  • Assist in corporate reporting and corporate governance for property holding companies
  • Contribute to the management of audit process and the preparation of the interim and yearend financial statements at both a local and Fund level


The candidate profile:

  • Fluent English as well as French and/or German
  • The candidate will have experience of accounting and administration within a real estate environment in France, Belgium and Germany
  • Experience required of service charge accounting, property insurance and related reporting activities
  • Strong reconciliation and investigation skills are essential
  • An ability to work cross-team and cross-department and influence others will be important within this role
  • Good communication skills are critical and the candidate must be able to articulate ideas coherently to colleagues, third party vendors, internal customers and external clients
  • Attention to detail and a diligent work method are important
  • Good interpersonal skills as the position requires daily contact with Portfolio Managers, Research Professionals
  • Financial and other Administrative staff
  • Strong business analysis and Excel skills
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative as needed, to manage daily tasks and special projects
  • An individual who is professional, proactive with a high level of personal integrity and focus on the customer is crucial
  • Assertive and self-motivated and an ability to prioritize and multi-task effectively
  • A true team player who will be happy to volunteer to assist colleagues when necessary
  • Utmost discretion when dealing with sensitive and confidential information
